Why we’re building this
The search is built for one person. Students search as a group.
Every year, students across the country go through the same routine: agree on who they’re living with, then try to coordinate budgets, bedroom counts, tours, and lease terms across a handful of friends and a dozen browser tabs.
Most housing tools are designed around a single renter and a single property. Cohort is designed around the group — one shared set of preferences, one search, and one path to a signed lease.
We’re starting in Salt Lake City near the University of Utah, working closely with students and a small number of launch partner properties.

How we work
Group-first
Students choose who before where. The product should follow the same order.
Honest by default
We label samples as samples, never invent availability, and only publish what properties confirm.
Deep before wide
We’re launching in one market and doing it well before expanding campus by campus.
Useful to both sides
Students get a better way to search together. Properties get a clearer view of real demand.
